Kevin lives and keeps his studio in Little Washington, Virginia. He served as a combat artist while an officer in the United States Marine Corps. He has long worked with the National Park Service to document the back country of America's national parks, and his American landscapes have been part of the Department of State's Art in Embassies program for two decades. In 2019, his work has been part of several juried exhibitions, including at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art and the Provincetown Art Association and Museum.
“My current work is so removed from the daily drama of the world that, for the first time, I might call it apolitical. I go to "my happy place” and paint what gladdens me. I have no greater agenda in choosing the subjects, nor do I have any illusions that these paintings might change the outcome of the debates over climate change, development, or environmental toxins. And yet. These paintings are a reflection of what speaks to me in our natural world, both urban and rural. I have never before felt so challenged to maintain this focus while in the studio. But I try to stay on mark and, if they accomplish nothing more, I hope my paintings bring a moment of peace into the observer’s day.” Kevin H. Adams
