Opening Reception: Saturday, November 2nd 5-7pm
Evening with the Artist: Wednesday, Nov 13th 6-8pm
Camilla David is a creative artist who has worked for decades in varied visual and performing arts. Her study of art history, drawing, painting, gouache and pastels and her experiences in theater, interior and textile design have helped shape her paintings. She is now working as an Abstract Expressionist painter in acrylics, oil pastels, inks and collage.
Camilla was born and raised in Washington, DC. She worked and studied at the Corcoran School of Art with prominent artists such as Gene Davis, Leon Berkowitz, Bill Christenberry, Paul Reed, Bob Stackhouse and Ann Truitt. Her colorful style has been influenced by the work of these artists, many of whom formed the influential Washington Color School movement.
Still inspired by the colors of nature, fields, oceans and flowers, several years ago she returned to abstract painting after 15 years as president of a successful textile design company, Camilla David Textiles, Inc.
